THE TIMES #1 BESTSELLER THE INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER One of Vogue's Best Books to Read in 2021 One of O Magazine's 55 Most Anticipated Books of 2021 One of Marie Claire's 25 Best 2021 Memoirs to Pre-Order Now 'Electrifying.' The Sunday Times 'A glorious, rogue, raw account ... It is funny; it is shocking; it is good.' The Times 'Dangerous, alluring and misunderstood: Sharon Stone remains one of our best ever movie stars ... Her new book serves as a spectacular reminder of the outrageous fun of her Nineties fame and why she is more than due for contemporary respect.' Independent 'Brawler, hillbilly, misfit, thief - the actress's memoir of her hardscrabble life, The Beauty of Living Twice, is a feast of yarns and jokes.' Daily Telegraph 'While [The Beauty of Living Twice] contains some startling personal revelations, equally affecting is Stone's warmth and grace, qualities that, by the end, feel quite miraculous . . . Writing with zeal and urgency, Stone argues for a stronger legal system, for rape kits on police shelves to be processed, for better training for teachers and paediatricians. Above all, she offers a hopeful glimpse of life beyond trauma . . . The Beauty of Living Twice promises the possibility of improvement or redemption, of compassion and understanding, of living honestly.' The Washington Post Sharon Stone, one of the most renowned actresses in the world, suffered a massive stroke that cost her not only her health, but her career, family, fortune, and global fame. In The Beauty of Living Twice, she chronicles her efforts to rebuild her life, and the slow road back to wholeness and health. In an industry that doesn't accept failure, in a world where too many voices are silenced, Stone found the power to return, the courage to speak up, and the will to make a difference in the lives of women and children around the globe. Over the course of these intimate pages, Stone talks about her pivotal roles, her life-changing friendships, her worst disappointments, and her greatest accomplishments. She reveals how she went from a childhood of trauma and violence to a business that in many ways echoed those same assaults, under cover of money and glamour. She describes the strength and meaning she found in her children, and in her humanitarian efforts. And ultimately, she shares how she fought her way back to find not only her truth, but her family's reconciliation and love. Stone made headlines not just for her talent and beauty, but for her candour and her refusal to "play nice," and it's those same qualities that make this memoir so powerful. The Beauty of Living Twice is a book for the wounded, and a book for the survivors; it's a celebration of women's strength and resilience, a reckoning, and a call to activism. It is proof that it's never too late to raise your voice, and speak out.
George Hurrell was called the "Rembrandt of Hollywood." Before his arrival, movie star portraits were "soft focus" and undistinguished, derivative of the Main Street USA portrait salon. Hurrell instituted a sharp, dramatic look. The vibrant, temperamental artist was an original, loved by the subjects he glamorized. For these performers, a Hurrell portrait was the passport to immortality. In this paperback edition of photographer and historian Mark A. Vieira's original volume, the author offers a wealth of new images to illustrate a compelling narrative. Featuring rare and never-before-published portraits and behind-the-scenes shots, George Hurrell's Hollywood covers Hurrell's entire career, from his beginnings as a Los Angeles society photographer to his finale as the celebrity photographer who became a celebrity himself. More than 400 pristine images showcase his work with Hollywood icons from 1929 to 1992. Vieira's text recounts the artist's life, from his childhood to the heyday of his career as a star maker, through untold stories of his fall from grace and eventual comeback. Filled with previously unseen photos of the biggest stars across more than six decades and abounding with fresh insight, this volume is not only the ultimate showcase of the trailblazing artist's work but an indispensable treasury of Hollywood lore.
Collection of all seven films from the highly successful comedy series. In 'Police Academy' (1984), a new mayor offers a motley crew of misfits the chance to oil the wheels of justice when he lifts the restrictions that normally apply for recruiting new members to the police force. The academy has the onerous task of knocking them into law-enforcing shape. 'Police Academy 2 - Their First Assignment' (1985) sees six of the inept recruits being transferred to another precinct, where the lieutenant's promotion depends on them flunking their training course. They also face trouble on the streets in the form of a gang of sociopaths, led by a psychobabbling lunatic. In 'Police Academy 3 - Back in Training' (1986), the police budget is being cut, so one of the two training academies faces the chop. It's up to the former graduates of Commandant Lassard (George Gaynes)'s academy to save their old training ground. In 'Police Academy 4 - Citizens On Patrol' (1987), our rookie cops try to involve the local community in order to prevent crime. However, their efforts are thwarted by Captain Harris (G. W. Bailey) who is determined to scupper the plans of the group which has caused him so much trouble in the past. 'Police Academy 5 - Assignment Miami Beach' (1988) sees Commandant Lassard finally reach retirement age. The whole gang fly down to Miami to watch him receive an award. The only problem is that he's picked up the wrong bag at the airport and is now in possession of some stolen diamonds belonging to a bunch of crooks. In 'Police Academy 6 - City Under Siege' (1989), a criminal holds the city to ransom by masterminding a spate of burglaries and fraud. To make matters worse, the rookie cops have a plan to stop him. 'Police Academy 7 - Mission to Moscow' (1994) sees the fabled police team helping out in post-Soviet Union Russia. The Russians have a problem on their hands when Mafia godfather Konali (Ron Perlman) hatches a plan to control the entire world via an addictive computer game. The fate of the planet lies in the police academy's hands, much to the planet's concern...
Collection of five films starring Sylvester Stallone. In 'Assassins' (1995) professional hitman Rath (Stallone) decides it's time to call it a day, even though he is still the best around. But as he searches for a way out he discovers that he is now the target of another assassin, Bain (Antonio Banderas), who is determined to be the new number one. The two men are both sent on an assignment to kill intelligence operative Elektra (Julianne Moore). However, Rath decides to flee with Elektra and outwit Bain. In 'The Specialist' (1994) US demolition expert Ray Quick (Stallone) attempts to abort the assassination of a South American drugs baron when he realises innocent children will be killed in the explosion. However, his partner (James Woods) goes ahead with the mission, leaving the duo permanently estranged and Quick psychologically scarred. Years later, a beautiful woman (Sharon Stone) asks Quick to come out of retirement to kill a Cuban drug lord who has murdered her father. Quick initially refuses, but is soon drawn into a plot that brings him in contact with his ex-partner once again. In 'Tango and Cash' (1989) two mismatched cops, one sharp-suited (Stallone), the other a slob (Kurt Russell), are thrown together when they are framed by a big-shot gun-runner (Jack Palance). They are put in prison, duly escape, and then attempt to clear their names whilst trying to track down a massive haul of weapons before they get shipped abroad. In 'Demolition Man' (1993) LA cop John Spartan (Stallone), nicknamed 'Demolition Man' due to his hands-on approach to law enforcement, is condemned to 70 years in the penal freezer after being set up by Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes), Public Enemy Number One. Halfway through his sentence, however, both he and Phoenix are catapulted out of captivity, discovering their city has been transformed into a peaceful utopia, under the benevolent rule of mayor Dr Cocteau (Nigel Hawthorne). As a mysteriously pumped-up Phoenix carries on where he had left off 35 years earlier, Spartan teams up with a comparatively feisty cop (Sandra Bullock) to bring him to justice and expose the man who is engineering the whole scenario. In 'Cobra' (1986) a tough detective known as Cobra (Stallone), is assigned to protect a beautiful model (Brigitte Nielsen), the only witness to a series of brutal murders. It transpires that the killings are not the work of one lone psychopath but rather a highly organised army of neo-fascists.

Gangsta life on a white tip as good white boys pretend to be bad black boys. Johnny Truelove (Emile Hirsch) is the leader of a pack of small-time hoods in late 90s Claremont , California. These white boys strut around, smoking dope, talking like the protagonists in the heavy rap songs they listen endlessly to and calling everyone in sight 'bitch'. They're not particularly impoverished, they live in pretty nice areas and don't have much need to resort to crime but they do anyway and when finally called upon to put up or shut up they go a step too far. Jake Mazursky, (Ben Foster) a fellow dealer has failed to repay a loan and furthermore failed to respect The Truelove. To make sure Jake knows he means business, Johnny and his pals Elvis (Shawn Hatosy), Bobby 911 (Alex Solowitz) and Frankie (Justin Timberlake) kidnap Jake's younger brother Zach (Anton Yelchin). Wantonness ensues as the tenure of this kidnapping turns into one long party in which, for example, Zach loses his virginity in a threesome. An ensemble cast sees Bruce Willis do a turn as Truelove's dad and elsewhere Sharon Stone and Harry Dean Stanton also turn in bit parts.
